Welcome to David & Jan's Sailing Pages! We're Y Flyer one design racing sailors cruising each winter as an interlude to racing, hence the name "Winterlude"! Winterlude is a l985 Passport 37 designed by Bob Perry & we could not have chosen a better boat! 2001 we sailed from Annapolis to Ft. Myers, Florida -- close to 1,500 miles in 26 days! In 2002 & 2003, we explored our new home area in Charlotte Harbor, Florida, and spent time cruising the Keys & Dry Tortugas. Fall 2004 & Spring 2005 we cruised in increments from Ft. Myers FL, including Isla Mujeres, the Yucatan Coastline and Belize all the way to the Rio Dulce, Guatemala where we left Winterlude for hurricane season. Fall 05 & Spring 06 & Fall 07 found Winterlude exploring the Bay Islands of Honduras - Roatan, Utila & Guanaja. We rounded the corner to head to Bocas Del Toro, stopping at the Vivarillos Cays, Providencia, San Andres, Columbia and now Bocas Del Toro.
David on the bow with Winterlude anchored in an endless swimming pool at Lighthouse Reef Atoll, Belize.
April 2007 .... 600 Miles Later, Winterlude is in Bocas Del Toro, Panama! No time yet to explore, that comes later!
Panama bills itself as the adventure less traveled, and it'll be our adventure starting in September 2007 through May 2008! The size of South Carolina, Panama is reported to have more biodiversity than any country in Central America - with more bird species than in the US & Canada combined! Hiking & exploring are some of the best in the world AND, best of all, it's one of the safest countries in this hemisphere!
